I help clients considering purchases and mortgage changes across York Region, including Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan. Our first conversation connects the property plans with the people and funds involved.
Clarify who is buying and who is contributing
For a purchase involving family support, discuss the arrangement early. List the intended owners and borrowers, and identify whether money is a gift, a loan or proceeds from another property. Do not assume all contributions will be treated in the same way.
A detail to check early
If more than one household is involved, each person should understand their proposed responsibilities. I can organise the financing questions; your lawyer should advise on title and ownership arrangements.
Questions to bring to our conversation
- Who will be on the purchase agreement?
- Who is expected to make the mortgage payments?
- Are any funds being borrowed or contributed by family?
